Who do I call to arrange group coaching?
Our group programme is managed by The Park Langley Club. Please specify the Sydenham Club when calling.
Call / email Helen Gear on 020 8658 9028.

Do I need to join the club to have coaching (either group or one-to-one)?
No, you do not have to join the club to have coaching but we hope you will join after your sessions to continue playing and improve further.

When is the group coaching?
The junior coaching takes place every weekday from 4pm to 7pm and 8.15am to 1pm on Saturdays.
The adult coaching takes place from 7pm -9pm on Monday, Tuesday and Friday evenings

Is it organised by ability?
Yes, the junior and adult coaching sessions are organised by ability. The junior tennis also has various standards (orange, green or tennis) depending on ages. The mini red tennis takes place at Forest Hill Boy’s School on a Thursday between 4:30pm and 6:45pm for children between four and seven-years-old.

How much does a group session cost?
For juniors the cost is £6.50 per lesson. (one hour with a maximum of six in a group)
For adults the cost is £6 per hour. (Usually eight in a group and daytime lessons are 1.5 hours)
For the four to seven-year-olds at Forest Hill, the cost is £4.50 per 45 minute lesson.

Do I need to pay up front? How/ Who do I pay?
The first lesson is for free. Everyone joining the programme must fill out a coaching registration form (available from Helen at the Park Langley Club). Payment is then termly via direct debit. It is possible to pay by cheque or cash but we add on a 10% surcharge. Only payment by direct debit guarantees your place for the next term otherwise if we do not receive payment the place will not be held.

Are there any coaching camps for juniors in the holidays?
There are junior Easter  and summer camps, for information or to sign up, keep an eye on our news or contact coach Chris Howard

Are there any other options for adult beginners to start playing tennis?
Yes, on Wednesday evenings between 7pm and 8pm on courts six and seven – there is a beginners’ session supervised by Bill, one of the club play supervisors.
This is open to existing members for free (those classified as beginners as opposed to improvers.)
It is also open to non-members for three initial sessions for a fee of £10 before formally joining the club. (£10 payable to Bill on attendance of the first session – this is a trial offer to beginners before joining the club as a full member) This is not organized by Park Langley.
